We are another one of those kooky homeschooling, foster, birth and adoptive families who believe in Jesus and have more than 2.5 children. This blog is a mix of many things. Please keep in mind that this blog is written for my children. When I've gone the way of the dodo bird they will have this to read. Hopefully it serves as our family scrapbook...because I'm not buying any more stinking wavy scissors and stickers! Just print this blog on photo paper and stick it in a photo album kids. Momma loves you!

AUNT ALVIA'S CHESS CAKE...

My roots are two-fold...

My dad hails from Michigan and my Mom hails from a teeny tiny town in Kentucky right smack dab in the middle of The Judd's hometown and George Clooney's hometown...And a right smart drive from Billy Ray Cyrus' hometown...or Hannah Montana for you younger folk.

Anyhoo..I said all that to say that I have some wonderfully fattening southern recipes to pass along to my children should they ever feel the need to eat. :-)

One of the rich...way too rich...way too good desserts is my

Aunt Alvia's Chess Cake

1 box of yellow cake mix
1 egg
1 stick of soft butter

mix it together and press in a 9 X 13 Pan

Topping

1 box powdered sugar
1 8 oz. box cream cheese
2 eggs

mix it up and pour it over the other in the pan.

Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes

Dad's family is from the Port Huron area. I and my family live south of there now.

I think I saw your original post on one of the many homeschooling sights I am a member of... your tagline had your blog link, I think. Of course, I had to check out a fellow homeschooling mom's blog.

I founded the Macomb Co. Chistian Homeschoolers group.

In the St. Louis area, this is also known as Gooey Butter Coffee Cake. It's my FAVORITE...especially with LOTS of powdered sugar!
