TIME TO GET OUR YOUTH ACTIVE!

In this day of video games and television, it is becoming more and more important for us as parents to help our children get more active. We all know that regular physical activity improves health and reduces the risk of developing cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure and obesity. It also staves off osteoporosis, diabetes, and certain cancers!

Although children and adolescents are generally more active than adults, many still do not meet the recommended guidelines for physical activity. Physical activity is important for all areas of physical health. In light of our recent diabetes scare, I'm about to sign our older boys up for SOGO Active. Coca-Cola Canada has retained "ParticipACTION", the national voice of physical activity and sport participation in Canada. The program is a unique approach and framework for inspiring “for youth by youth” group activity in the community.

This is an excellent way for our kids to get active and bring their friends along with them! That is my favorite part of SOGO Active because, anything that allows the kids to play with their friends is bound to keep them interested for long periods of time. This will allow them to make a habit of being physically active. I think this could be an excellent way to boost their interest in activities.
